Ostraglen

 Ostraglen

Once a bustling center of industry during the Age of Heaven, Ostraglen is now a sparsely populated shell of its former glory. The spiritual capital of the Church of Raziel, who seek to understand lost knowledge and technology from the Age of Heaven. The church, under the watch of their pope who rules from his throne in the Sufar Executive Tower, guides the faithful in the excavation of lost lore and technology scattered throughout the ancient city.

Formerly the corporate headquarters of Vesuvius Incorporated. The fire giants of Promethiagon have launched many invasions to reclaim their holy land from Edem's control. But time and time again the armies of Vesuvius Incorporated have been pushed back, often with the meddling of their rivals, Cogsmark Industries.

But the greatest prize of all is the ancient Starport once owned by the VoidArk corporation now occupied by the blue great wyrm Saphkazzar who hoards VoidArk’s vast trove of technology and magical relics. Throughout the ages, the Church of Raziel and countless would-be heroes have made many expeditions into the starport to recover Saphkazzar’s priceless treasures. Yet for all their efforts few have succeeded with fewer still living to tell the tale.

Though the city’s technology is hardly understood even by the highest techno-clerics of Raziel’s church. The cities of Magnar’s Gate and Odessa remain as they were in the Age of Heaven, two of most heavily industrialized cities in the world and are often the first to adopt the latest rediscovered technologies. Barely understood petrol powered buggies exist alongside horse drawn carts and carriages. Electric powered incandescent lights may illuminate one building while candles and torches might light a ruined skyscraper built during the Age of Heaven.

Ostraglen is home to many chapters of imperial dragoons, superhuman knights alchemically enhanced with concoctions made from the blood and organs of dragons. Among their number includes storied chapters such as the Iron Brotherhood, the Emerald Griffins and the Red Wings who were the first warriors to break the decade long siege of Magnar’s Gate during the Great Orco War.

Ostraglen is a monument of hope and progress in the Edem Empire. A glorious memory of a brighter past long faded into legend. But like the sun sets, perhaps this long night of ignorance will pass into a new dawn of discovery and understanding. One that will bring forth a new Age of Heaven for all of Sanctum.
